The Muffinese War of Independence was a conflict in Summer of 2018 between the United States and their rebelious territory, Muffin Island. The war was started by Muffin Island, which wanted independence due to their differences with the United States. Muffin Island was originally part of the United States, but once the Muffinese Government realized that there were major cultural differences, Muffin Island attempted to hold an independence referendum. Finally, after the referendum was declined by the United States, two representatives (Chandler Yorio and Bo Lippert) declared war on the United States of America.

Pre-war[]

On January 6, 2010, the United States of American purchased a large island chain off the coast of Massachusetts from Canada. Canada reluctantly gave the islands to the USA, and the United States named it Muffin Island. The island chain only had a population of 500,000, but these people became US Citizens. Eight years later in late August of 2018, Muffin Island reached a population of 15,000,000, and the Census determined that most of Muffin Island's population was Canadian and Scandinavian. In a meeting between Colin Kingera, Chandler Yorio, Bo Lippert, and Nicco Dapra, Lippert brought up the possibility of independence. Yorio liked this proposition, and after speaking with Dapra, Lippert, Kingera, and Weaver, they officially proposed an independence referendum.

On August 24, Muffin Island officially released an independence referendum, with 5 options on the list. The options were: 1. Independence 2. Statehood 3. Unification with Canada 4. Unification with Massachusetts 5. Stay as we are. Independence or statehood were the ones that Yorio, Lippert, Dapra, and Kingera were hoping would win. Independence ended up winning the vote with 91% of the vote, while statehood and unification with Massachusetts being the other popular options. After the election, the United States stated that the election was illegal, while Canada and the rest of NATO (excluding Spain) recognized the election. Following the referendum, Iran and Egypt recognized Muffin Island as an independent country. After the US refused to recognize it, Muffin Island (with support from Egypt and Iran) declared war on the United States of America.

Beginning of the War[]

Most people believe that the United States underestimated Muffin Island, as Muffin Island has the most people willing to fight in a war. The United States originally sent 100,000 troops on an armada of boats leaving Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, but around 81% of Muffin Island's entire population decided to fight in the war, which was 12 million people. After the United States made landfall in Western Mainland, they pushed inland before meeting a barricade of over 1 million troops, who easily were able to push the United States all the way back to their boats with minimal casualties and fatalities occurring.

Battle of Muffinia and Muffinolia[]

After being pushed out of Western Mainland, the United States sent another armada coming off the coast of Morocco and Portugal to invade Muffinia, which at the time, was the most populated state in the region. After making a landing in Muffinia, the United State discovered an armory, and they used it to refill bullets. Cash Repcik decided to send an army of ships from Muffinolia to Muffinia after cameras inside the armory discovered that the United States' Military had made it to Muffinia. After the army of ships arrived, the United States began shooting and had the edge over Muffin Island as most of their soldiers were on the western coast. The United States was able to defeat the soldiers, and they fled on a ship to Muffinolia. By the time the United States reached Muffinolia, many troops from Western Mainland and Dania reached the state, and the United States was eventually pushed out.

Battle of Allat and second referendum[]

After losing the Battle of Muffinolia, the United States pushed into the state of Point Star and Allat, and was able to move into the largest city, Allat. After the United States was able to overrun Allat, troops moving from North Muffinia arrived, and were able to hold off the United States while they waited for back-up. Despite the fact that only 12,000 Muffinese soldiers were there, Muffin Island was able to hold off the USA for 1 more hours. Finally the United States pushed through the blockade, and they then attempted to invade Point Star, though back-up arrived and the United States was forced back to their ships, without allowing the United States to reach Point Star. Following the United States being pushed out of Allat, they decided that they would give Muffin Island one more independence referendum. After the United States surrendered and allowed Muffin Island an independence referendum, independence won with 85% of the vote.

Peace Treaty[]

After the end of the war, the United States and Muffin Island signed an agreement of permanent peace, and Muffin Island was officially voted into the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. In March 2019, President Chandler Yorio publicly apologized to the United States for the attack. Since then, Muffin Island and the United States have become great allies, and the US is widely considered Muffin Island's greatest ally.
