On January 1, 2040, Raylize invaded Izou in a major escalation of the Raylize-Izouian land tensions, which began in 2038 following Izou's declaration that Leogane, an inclave city next to the capital of Delmopan and the provincial capital of Leogane Province of Raylize falls under the rightfull jurisdiction of Izou. The invasion has resulted in millions of deaths on both sides and instigated Asia's largest refugee crisis since World War II. About 36 million Izouians were displaced within their country by June, and more than 22 million had fled the country by the end of the war. Much of the fled returned to the country after Izouian Victory.
Pre war tensions[]
In March 25, 2038, The Izouian Government declared that Leogane, an inclave city next to the capital of Delmopan and the provincial capital of Leogane Province of Raylize fell under the rightfull jurisdiction of Izou. The land incompassing Leogane was given temporarily to Raylize to help increase the economy of the newly independent state since a large oil reserve was found in the area. The contract clearly said that "The land incompasing Leogane must be ceded back to Izou within the date of February 28, 2038". Both states signed the contract. However, when the date came, Raylize refused to give back the area. In the following month, Izou declared its rightfull sovereignty over the area.
As the relationship of Raylize and Izou began to diminish, multiple bombings and some airstrikes were reported in several Izouian cities. In December 7, 2039, Raylize dropped a major airstrike over a street in Delmopan (Previously known as Dhaka), tactfully targeting the area as many buildings had weak bases. 490 was killed following the airstrike as many buildings collapsed in the street. This airstrike caused the Izouian government to declare that "We will not tolerate any more bombings and airstrikes" and ordered airstrikes to be launched in Raylize City, the previous site of Kolkata.
On December 9, An airstrike was dropped in the Official Military Base in Raylize City, the airstrike killed 40 soldiers and 7 goverment officials. The Izouian government said that "We intentionally dropped the airstrike in a military base as we are opposed to killing civilians". Another airstrike was launched the next day, this time targeting an underground tunnel in a play field used for transporting war items.
Prelude to the invasion[]
Following the airstrikes, on December 11, The Raylizian goverment ordered a "surprise attack" on Izou. Multiple satellite imagery showed the rapid building of hundreds of tent cities and barracks all across the Izou-Raylize border. On December 15, 2039, the President of Raylize denied all accusations and claimed the tent cities and barracks to be "preludes of multiple new cities" in an attempt to urbanize the Raylizian population.
Announcement of a "surprise attack"[]
On 1 January, 2040, right after the celebrations of New Year, as everyone went to bed, at 3:00 a.m. Delmopan time and 2:45 a.m. Raylize time, Ronaldo Santa Cruz, the president of Raylize, announced a "special military operation" in the country and "effectively declared a surprise attack on Izou". In his speech, Ronaldo said that they had no plans to occupy Izouian territory and that he supported the right of the Izouian people to self-determination. He said the purpose of the operation was to "protect the people" in Leogane. who he falsely claimed that "for two years now, the people of Leogane been facing humiliation, abuse, torture, and mass murder perpetrated by the Delmopan regime". Within minutes of Ronaldo's announcement, explosions were reported in Muokokis, the first city to be sieged. Raylizian troops entered through the entire span of the border, however, particular first targets were the major cities of Muokokis, Douglas, and Dublos. Raylizian equipment and vehicles were marked with a white RAL military symbol (the country name's shortform), believed to be a measure to prevent friendly fire.
Immediately following the attack, Boris Trozan, the president of Izou, declared martial law in Izou. The same morning, he ordered a general mobilization of all Izouian males between 18 and 50 years old, prohibiting them from leaving the country.
War effects in Izou[]
9.2 million was killed (Including civilians) and damage was estimated at US$67.08 trillion.
Siege of Muokokis[]
Right after the declaration of a surprise invasion, The army general Tom Vicente ordered a siege in the Muokokis as it was one of the three major ports, which in total generated 28% of the Izouian economy (equal to IZ$7.8 trillion (US$12.48 trillion)). Since Muokokis was the closest to the border, the Raylizian army targeted it first.
Just minutes after the declarations, multiple bombs were dropped in the city from the Hamilton Bomb Launch Area. A Journalist who lived in the area confirmed that at least 28 buildings collapsed. Just 28 minutes later another period of bombing began, this time one of the bombs hit the National Internet Distributor's building in Muokokis, causing the internet to fail and the jounalist was forced to stop posting. The journalist began to record everything using a camera.
As artillery bombing continued, Raylizian forces quickly advanced through the relatively flat land, devastating and destroying at least 148 towns using heavy bombing and shelling, RPG shots and machinegun fire. The number of dead totaled at more than 315,000 in the towns, all part of the Muokokis Metro Area. A particularly hard hit town was the town of Alex. The mayor of Alex reported that "at least 24,000 was killed and 90% of all infastructure were victims of the Raylizian siege.
Hundreds of Raylizian aircrafts carrying hundreds of shells began to encircle the area, bombing first at important areas like: gas and water pipes, electrical wires, farmlands, and buildings like: municipal services (fire, police, health etc.), schools, any building that provides food, and later shelling in the rest of the city. It was reported that the seven highways that connected the Metro Area to the rest of Izou, was completely destroyed.
On 11:38 p.m of January 1, as Raylizian forces began to enter the city, the city looked completely different. As shelling continued, many soldiers entered residential buildings, torturing and killing many inside them. They also looted valuables from homes. The Raylizian Navy also launched an offensive on the Port District of Muokokis, bombing and destroying essential port assets. Entire commercial and industrial zones were destroyed, and residential zones subsequently became like "a messy bedroom". The siege intensified rapidly the next day, as the Izouian Government plead for a ceasefire, and the Raylizian government announced a ceasefire from 10:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m and made a fake order telling forces to stop. Multple corriders opened, however, just as most corriders filled up, catastrophic bombing killed more than 12,000, mostly in the corriders, the President, Ronaldo, falsely accused Izou as using the ceasefire to bombard Leogane. As more than 95% of the Metro Muokokis was damaged or destroyed, the siege finally ended at 10:58 p.m, on January 2. The death toll was estimated to be over 750,000, and damages were estimated at IZ$985 billion (US$1.57 trillion).
The extreme speed of the siege shocked most around the world. On average, a siege generally takes months, however on the case of this and some other sieges in the war, the siege generally took less than a week. It is believed that during those sieges, depending on the size of the city, the Raylizian army launched a quarter or half of the entire army to completely destroy a city.

Battle of Douglas[]
On 11:01 p.m, January 2, right after the fininshing of the siege in Muokokis, bombings were reported in Douglas. Officials were immediately reported and became alarmed. On 1:35 p.m, reports arrived describing the destruction of the city Golden Pass, a city close to the provincial capitals Douglas and Dublos. The army general of Izou, Erick Sonarmen determined that they were heading for Douglas first, before moving onto Dublos. It was estimated they would reach the area within an hour or two, so an army of nearly 25,000 soldiers were deployed from the Douglas Province Central Military Base to the southern suburbs of Drece and Tulto, with some small units to other suburbs. Around the same time, Raylizian army general Tom contacted the head of The Izouian Rebel Group (TIRG), Alex Hoard, to help them siege Douglas, by attacking the city from the western suburbs of Saint-Dennis and Chrosa.
On 12:35 a.m, January 3, Raylizian soldiers entered the suburb of Tulto, but were met by Izouian soldiers. Izouian soldiers retaliated them by gunfire. However, they were unprepared for the attack on the western suburbs. As bombings and gunshots were reported in both Saint-Dennis and Chrosa, another army containing 10,000 soldiers was sent from the Sub-Military base in Dublos.
As dawn broke, the fight in the south intensified as forces from the PRC, totaling at 10,000 soldiers, managed to overthrow the Izouian soldiers. On 6:35 p.m, supply lines were cut to the southern suburbs. As supply lines and electric transmissions were cut-off to the southern suburbs, Tom diverted some 5,000 soldiers to the eastern side, effectively outnumbering on both sides. Heavy devastation was reported on both the northern and the eastern suburbs, as they began to bear down on downtown Douglas.
On 11:05 p.m, Raylizian forces entered downtown Douglas, heavy destruction was reported on the districts of Carol, Adna, and Dlou. The number of dead reached 35,000 civilians and 20,000 soldiers for the Izouian side.
Izou began a counter-offensive containing at least 30,000 soldiers were deployed to both sides, reaching the area in 1:25 a.m, January 4, causing heavy gunshots to be heard throughout the entire suburban area. However, by the time they reached, enough time passed that the 3 districts were already captured by the invasive forces. A team containing 5,000 also arrived from North India, aiding the recapturing effort. On 4:31 a.m, the forces reached downtown Douglas. Heavy urban fighting was reported in Douglas.
By dawn of January 4, Izouian forces nearly re-captured the entire area, and by noon completely moved away the Raylizian fleet back into Raylize. The battle finally ended on 1:02 p.m, with heavy casualities and damages. It is estimated that the death toll, both civilians and soldiers, totaled to 75,000. The damages were estimated at IZ$420 billion (US$672 billion). The Izouian army reported that a total of 10,000 Raylizian soldiers were killed, and 20,000 was captured.
Muokokis massacre[]
On 2:13 p.m, January 3, in retaliation to the armed forces in Douglas, Ronaldo threatened Izou to stop their military operations, otherwise they will kill civilians in the Raylizian controlled Muokokis Province. When they still didn't stop, a mass murder campaign codenamed OPERATION RETALIATION was initiated, hundreds of civilians and prisoners of war were rounded up, tortured, and finally murdered. Within hours, thousands of civilians and prisoners of war were killed. By January 4, more than 6,000 was killed. Following the re-capturation of Douglas, the massacre ended, resulting in nearly 8,000 deaths.

More than 10,000 was killed due to the bombings. Railways were also targeted, with the main station and the railway tracks were bombed in city entrances. The damage was estimated at IZ$101 billion (US$161.6 billion).
Mangrove Wildfires[]
On 2:54 p.m, reports came that Raylizian forces opened fire in the Mangrove Natural Reserve, with many towns and major cities Upper Mangrove Region City and Lower Mangrove Region City being completely surrounded by the reserve. By the evening, extreme shelling of Thermobaric bombs rendered the fire out of control and made it impossible to extinguish unless an immediate force of more than 500,000 personnel were to work at the same time, which was impossible due to the war.
By 11:00 p.m, 28 towns were completely surronded by fire, with the death toll being estimated in a worst-case scenario in which the entire reserve is burned, being more than 975,000. By January 5, the fire was less than 12 km away from Upper Mangrove Region City, and 20 km away from Lower Mangrove Region City. By 5:00 a.m, January 5, as shelling continued, a mass evacuation campaign was launched, however, Raylizian forces bombarded evacuation corridors, making it impossible to evacuate, by 2:00 a.m, January 5, 80% of the mangrove forest was burned down, and 340 towns and cities, including Upper Mangrove Region City and Lower Mangrove Region City, is when finally shelling stopped. As the wildfire continued to rage, huge evacuation corriders were launched and heavy personnel help from USA, TSAT, and RoC arrived. By 12:04 a.m, the fire was mostly extinguished, and by 1:00 a.m, it was completely extinguished. The death toll exceeded 850,000. Damages were estimated at IZ$4.1 trillion (US$6.56 trillion).
Siege of Douglas[]
On 3:55 a.m, Raylizian forces sneakily moved towards Douglas, as everyone was busy extinguishing the wildfire, and attacked the city on 12:34 a.m, January 6. They immediately severed pipelines and electrical transmissions, causing the entire city to go black. Almost immediately, all cellular networks, radio towers, channel producers, and radio stations were bombed and destroyed. The sudden blackout is what notified Boris of something wrong happening, and told general Erick to send a team from the Douglas Province Central Military Base, but found out that phone calls were not entering the area. Around the same time, Raylizian forces sabotaged and bombarded the military base.
By 4:00 a.m, fires were raging across the city. Satellite images showed signs of fire in the area. Erick sent a team from the Capital Region Military Base to investigate the situation, and were given fax machines to report. The team of twelve reached the area by 8:00 a.m, and were confronted by Raylizian forces. They were captured by the Raylizian army. Meanwhile, as no faxes were being sent to Erick, he decided send an additional 5,000 soldiers to the area. However, as Raylizian forces realized that Izouian forces were coming, general Tom sent 7,500 Raylizian soldiers towards Dublos, where a major battle took place.
By 1:00 p.m, 70% of the city was destroyed, as Raylizian forces bombarded every square inch of the city. And by 5:00 p.m, the entire city was destroyed. The death toll was estimated at 500,000, and damages were estimated at IZ$705 billion (US$1.12 trilion).

A soldier named Lee Margot sent a fax report to Erick notifying him of the situation. On 1:04 p.m, as they exited downtown Dublos, and entered the southwestern suburb of Autres, they were met with Raylizian forces. Urban fighting almost immediately began. Due to the fact Izou hates killing civilians, Izouian forces tried to divert away from the area, however, they were bombarded if they tried to do so, forcing them to stay.
On 4:08 p.m, urban fighting rendered much of the suburbs Autres and Eclair to be rendered uninhabitable. By 10:00 p.m, the fight streched from the southerns suburbs of Autres and Eclair, all the way through downtown Dublos, and ending in the northern suburbs of Louis and Crese. The fight finally ended.
